Sant Dnyaneshwar, a 13th-century poet-saint, wrote the Dnyaneshwari, a Marathi commentary on the Bhagavad Gita. At the age of twenty-one he entered live samadhi at Alandi, and Varkaris keep the day as one of the holiest.
