The story
Navapada Oli is a nine-day Jain observance, kept twice a year, in Ashwina and Chaitra, from the bright seventh to the full moon. It honours the nine padas: the Arihants, Siddhas, Acharyas, Upadhyayas, Sadhus, and right faith, knowledge, conduct and austerity.
How it is kept
Many keep ayambil, a single plain meal a day without oil, salt, spices, milk or sweets, and spend the days in worship and study. Practices differ by community, so follow your own tradition.
