The story
Phulera means 'of flowers'. In Braj, the Krishna temples of Mathura and Vrindavan celebrate the coming of spring, when Krishna and Radha are said to play with flowers. It is considered an especially auspicious day for weddings.
How it is kept
Temples offer flower petals to the deity and priests shower them on devotees, opening the colourful Holi season of Braj. Many weddings are held without consulting a muhurta.
