The story
Subrahmanya Shashthi is the sixth day of the waxing moon in Margashirsha, sacred to Subrahmanya, the Tamil Murugan and Kartikeya. At Kukke Subrahmanya in Dakshina Kannada it is the day of the great car festival, and the temple is a centre of serpent worship. Maharashtra keeps the same tithi for Khandoba as Champa Shashthi.
