The story
Magh Bihu is Assam's harvest festival, marking the end of the farming season. Bhogali means feasting. The night before, called Uruka, is spent in community feasts, and the dawn bonfire is the Meji.
How it is kept
On Uruka night the community cooks and eats together. At dawn the Meji hut is burned, people bathe and pray to Agni, and pitha, laru and other sweets are shared. Traditional games are played.
